Taking a break from crafting for a few days while we'll be living in a hotel for 4 nights. Then I'll be spending a couple nights with my mom before we get to finally move into our duplex. I can't wait to move in and get a crafting space set up in the basement.

Ruffled Jean Skirt
I love this skirt, it is so pretty and girly! There are three layers of ruffles in the back, with a double wide panel to make it easier to walk, and give it the mermaid look.

Flounced Jean Skirt
Here is a different version of a jean skirt from a pair of jeans. I used a pair of jeans, but a short skirt would be even easier, and a pair of jean shorts would work fine too. The pattern for the flounce came from my friend Janey. To make the jean skirt part, follow the directions found in the previous post: Jean Skirt. For the flounce, cut 2 pieces of curved material, like the following pictures. I had my material folded in 4s to make it easier.
Follow the directions from the previous post, Adding Length to a Dress, to attach the flounce.

Adding length to a dress
I bought this dress at Kohl's a few weeks ago, but it was a little too short for me. So, I added the maroon fabric along the bottom to make it longer, and now I like it. I used a pattern that my friend Janey gave me. Here's the pattern that she cut for me, I had to make it slightly longer to fit my dress.
Next, I sewed down the sides, matching the seam to the seam of the dress. Then sew across the top couple inches that are open. Make sure you zig zag the edges of the seam to prevent fraying. Here's the finished seam:
Iron the hem and sew to finish!
My cut pieces:
I sewed a zig zag stitch on both curved edges of these pieces, then pinned to the dress and sewed them on, leaving an inch or sew at each seam.Next, I sewed down the sides, matching the seam to the seam of the dress. Hair Clipies and Scrapbook pages
I love the way my daughter looks in pig tails, and these clipies really make them stand out. This is a quick and easy project to do for your little girl. I use double pronged metal clips, found at Sally Beauty Supply. 3/8" ribbon is the perfect size to cover the clip: it only takes a few inches of ribbon, so you can use up your scraps, or buy the cheap ribbon rolls at Target meant for scrapbooking in the dollar section. Once the clip is covered, you can add bows, flowers, beads, sequins, or anything you can dream up. Here is a tutorial found at Girly Things, which is a great website for making all kinds of hair clips and bows.
I've also had time to do a little scrapbooking. I made a page about how much I love scrapbooking, and a couple pages for the family album..

Jean Skirts
I made this skirt for my daughter Rebekah. This picture doesn't show the pretty colors, it's purple and teal. I found the jeans at Goodwill for $2.50. The embroidered butterfly on the front was at the bottom of the pant leg. I think it's just adorable! Here's the back:
I also made a skirt for myself. I found 3 pairs of jeans at Goodwill for $3 each. Here's the first one I made. For the back, I added twice as much material so that I could walk better and it would have that "mermaid" look. I think it turned out good.

Cookie Mania
I got a speeding ticket a few days ago, and my husband said I owed him cookies because of it. Turned out he wanted cookies to take to work for his last day. I made 2 batches of chocolate cake cookies, 2 batches of peanut butter, and 3 batches of chocolate chip!
And here is my grandmother's birthday tote.

Successful Scrapbooking Night
Last night I went to Archiver's for their Scrap Mania Night. Three of my friends went with me, and we had a great time. For $15 Archiver's provided a place to scrapbook, candy, pizza, soda, and a scrap pack to make one page. I was able to finish 9 pages! Here's what I made.

Another Birthday Tote
Here is another tote that I made for a little boy turning 3. I filled it with skittles and a couple little art projects. I also bought some fabric to make one for my grandmother who is turning 94! Totes work for all ages!
Thank you for reading my blog! I am currently in the middle of moving to a new state, so my posts will be sporadic until we are settled in August. I have plans to make a little girl dress, a skirt for me, and I am going to a scrapbooking event tonight!
