10 Reasons I Love You Bookmarks

Happy Valentine's Day!  I made homemade bookmarks for Caleb, Rebekah, and my husband.  I wish I would have made one for Joshua with just a picture on it, he wanted one REALLY bad!  I got the idea from The Prudent Homemaker.  I also used her tassel tutorial.  I made them in Microsoft Word and then used my thermal laminater to laminate them.  You can also use contact paper on both sides.

I decided to put a picture on the back of each one.  Thank you Ashley for taking our pictures, I love having nice ones to use for projects like this.

For dinner, we had Subway at home.  Their favorite part was the chips of course!  And you can see my orange roses, thank you Kevin!

Binder Cover - Recipe Book

This binder cover was part 2 of my mom's birthday gift.  I added some plastic pages and page dividers, as well as a few handwritten recipes to make it a recipe book that matches her new apron.  I found the binder cover tutorial at Lola...again.  Inside, on the left, there are pockets for pens and a larger pocket for whatever else you'd like.  The other side has a vertical pocket that's big enough for a whole piece of paper, perfect for holding magazine pages or computer print outs.  I followed the tutorial exactly, except where the author added a magnetic snap, I added a large button, which gave it a more rustic feel, perfect for my mom's log home kitchen.  This cover took me about 4 hours to complete, a little more than I expected because there are so many pieces to cut out, and some that need interfacing too!  So, about 2 hours of my time was cutting and ironing, which is my least favorite part!  I was so excited with the finished product that I may make another one for myself... someday!

Today I am grateful for beautiful spring weather!  I took my kids to a nature preserve today and we did a little trail walking.  I'm also thankful that I didn't have to bring a stroller, Rebekah walked a whole mile without complaining!

Birthday and Wedding Cards

We're headed to a birthday party today, followed by a wedding.  You can't get anymore joyful than that!  Here are the cards I made for the occasions.  The paper and embellishments came from a scrapbook calender.

Tote, Zippered Pouch, Notebook, and Felt Hair Clips

This is what I made for a 4 year old little girl's birthday gift.  I hope she will find lots of joy in it!!!
The tote and the zippered pouch were made using the directions at Skip to my Lou.  It is a wonderful blog with tons of homemade gift ideas.  The zippered pouch took about 30 minutes and the tote took about 1 hour.  I am very happy with the results.

The notebook and felt hair clips are my own creations.  For the notebook, I stitched on a matching scrap of fabric and then tied ribbons onto each curl of the wire binding.  I lifted up the ribbons and ran a line of hot glue on the book and then pushed the ribbons to the front.  This was so that they stayed in the front and covered up the edge of the green notebook.  I am also going to include a small pink pen with the gift.  I will post a tutorial for the flower hair clips in the next post.

After posting this, I noticed on facebook that the birthday girls' mom has a birthday tomorrow too!  So I quickly made another tote to give to her.  This one took me 45 minutes.  I absolutely love this green fabric.  I might have to make another one for myself!
