Child's Apron

I have started making Christmas gifts!  These aprons will be gifts for my kids.  They love to help me in the kitchen, and they have really started to love painting, so I thought a cute apron would be perfect.  I found the free pattern over on Sew Liberated, a great blog you should check out.  Here's the link for the pattern: Montessori Child's Apron.  The pattern says it's for a 3-6 year old child, however I thought it looked a little small, so I added an inch to each side, and two inches to the bottom.  For Caleb's, I added an inch to the neck strap, which probably wasn't necessary.  I also added several inches to his waist strap, but then ended up shortening it to the recommended length after it was done.  I should also mention that it took me less than an hour to make one and used a small amount of fabric, so it was a quick inexpensive gift.

  2. Thank you. The waist strap ends up to be about 15 inches, which is big enough for a large child (like my 5 year old boy). I also made my velcro pieces 2 1/2 inches instead of 2 so they'll be a little more adjustable. I'd love for you to link a picture if you make one!

  4. I plan to make the apron, but I wonder why the waist strap is only brought down 1/4" from the corner when the instructions say to use a 1/2" seam allowance. I plan to bring the waist strap down an additional 1/4" in order to accomodate the waist strap. Thanks for the pattern. I can't wait to make one for my granddaughter!
